The diagnosis of lymphoedema can be devastating to patients as it has far-reaching consequences and is a constant reminder of their breast cancer (Weiss and Spray, 2002; Radina and Armer, 2004; Fu et al, 2009). anxiety, poor self-image, reduced selfesteem and distress (Armer and Fu, 2005; Armer and Heckathorn, 2005; Pyszel et al, 2006; Preira de Godoy and da Silva, 2007).
